The Effect of Setting

            "As I looked about me I felt that the grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the colour of wine-stains, or of certain seaweeds when they are first washed up. And there was so much motion in it; the whole country seemed, somehow, to be running."  This is Carthers way of telling the setting in My Antoina. I like the way that Cather descibes the setting of the novel, but I believe that she is trying to make it sound more prettier than what it really is.  if i were to try and tell the reader of this blog what i think the setting is it would go like this.  As i looked into the country side the grass looked like and infinite sea of red, as if the grass was the red sea when god turned the river into blood.

my antonia

            Willa Cather in her novel My Antonia offers her view of life during the pioneer time by telling the story of Jim Burton and his experiences with Antonia and his life.  If "My Antonia" was told from Antonia's point of view the story would be very different.  Antonia would have told her opinion a lot more and the reader would have been told what all had happened to her a lot faster than the way it is already written from Jim's point of view.  When i read the book "My Antonia" there are some parts in the novel that I can tell that Cather was using a little more woman style of thinking.  Jim was a little bit more emotional than what a regular man would be back in the time depicted.  I think the reason why Jim made the name of the book My Antonia and not just Antonia is because of the simple fact that he was so close to Antonia that he wanted to make is known to the reader before they even opened the book. These are some ideas I wanted to say about the novel "My Antonia".

The Death Penelty Should be Used

claim:I am a strong believer in the death penalty, when i was told to do this essay i felt like a had a opportunity to finally express my feeling about this topic.

Reason 1

• It is the law that you can use the death penalty.
• Commentary 1:Some states believe that the death penalty is unconstitutional according to the 8th amendment.  but it clearly states in the amendment that it only covers cruel punishments.
• Commentary 2:The methods used today in the proceedings for the death penalty are the most humane in history. If there is a method found that is anymore humane then it will be the main execution.

Reason 2

• The cost factor when u think of using the death penalty and keeping a prisoner for life are tremendous.
• Commentary 1: One of the big problems in the county today is prison overpopulation. The prisons in America today are becoming very over populated. The cost is more than this county can bear.
• Commentary 2: What i think this county should do is for all the prisoners that have committed such a hannis crime that they could get the death penalty, they should. This decision could be the difference on wear this country is going. It would save this county so much tax dollars. And have less Prison overpopulation.

Opposing claim

• People against the death penalty such as Bryan Stevenson say that the penalty is very immoral.

My Rebuttal

• I say that it is a very understandable procedure for people that have committed murder, rape ext..  The procedure for the excitation is very humane, the most humane in the history in the world.

      My Paragraph

If there is a method found that is anymore humane then it will be the main execution.  The cost factor when the public thinks of using the death penalty and keeping a prisoner for life are tremendous.  One of the big problems in this countary today is prison overpopulation. The prisons in America today are becoming very over populated. The cost is more than this county can bear.  What I think this counsrty should do is for all the prisoners that have committed such a hannis crime that they could get the death penalty, they should. This decision could be the difference on wear this country is going. It would save this county so much tax dollars. And have less Prison overpopulation.  America needs to assess the prison overpopulation problem.

War is

War is fighting, fighting for an unnoble cause
War is killing, killing of Innocent beings
War is devastating, crying ever since there has ben wars
War is taking, stealing from somebodies parents

the kansas city chiefs game

that was one of the best experiences i have ever had.  i have always wanted to go to this game. ever since i was little ive ben a chifes fan.  we even got to tailgate.  that behind the actual game was the best part.  we grilled a bunch of food in 23 degree weather. watching all of the people and there amazing was of tailgaiting was the best part.  i got to hang out with my moms friend Jeff Wells. Jeff is basicly like another dad to me, he doesnt have a son so he looks at me like im his son.  I had the best time ever at the Kansas City Chiefs Game.

my mom

my mom has always ben there for me thorough the be bad and the worst.  once while i was in 9th grade i had gotten a 69 d for the third nine weeks of school.  she helped me get though it and i ended up getting a 90 a for the last nine weeks of school.  another example is i finally got my car she told me that i had to get a job so i can pay for the insurance.  all though the last two weeks of school i looked for a job and they would never ever call me back.  even though the summer i still looked for a job.  but they still would not call me back. but my mom still payed for my gas and my insurnecel.  burt above all she has always helped me though life. she has always been there for me.

tom sawyer

the book i have read is tom sawyer.  i was really surprised that i liked this book so much considering that it is such a long book. i can see that mark twain really had a good understanding of what this chaeter is.  tom  is a mischievous Young boy with the smart and the wits to get out of any situation he tricked his friend into painting a fence. ran off to become a pirate,  won the girl by blaming himself for riping a book that she had ripped, and that is to name a few.  i wish i could be near as smart as this young man.  tom and Becky (the girl he won over) go into a cave they get lost.  they were in there for so long that they run out of food and candles.  tom goes looking for a way out and they find a young Indian boy that was using the cave as a hide out and he tells them the way out.  i am glad i read this book. i will probley remember the adventurous of tom sawyer for my whole life

TOO MUCH MONEY

      the rebuilding of one of the world trade center is costing this country 3.1 billion dollars.

      This is way to much money to rebuild one of the world trade centers.  I know this building is in remembrance of all the people that died during 9/11 but we are in a very serious economic depression.

      This country is currently 14 trillion dollars in dept right now.  Contrary to most people's beliefs i think if this country needs to be doing anything we just need to focus on lowering the dept in the economy.  We don't need to spend 3.1 billion dollars on anything right now.  Even on this building.
